Creating Order and Eliminating Chaos

Your environment is a reflection of your inner self. We must begin to re-order and re-organize every aspect of our lives to create balance.

Let’s look at your life. What takes up your time now? Make a list of your routine in your journal. Example listed below:
Wake up 6:00am
Prayer: 6:00am-6:15am
Morning Workout: 6:20am-6:50am
Get kids ready for school 7:00am-7:30am
Get self ready 7:30am-8:30am
Work 9:00am-6:00pm
House chores and dinner prep 6:30pm-8:00pm
Kids to bed 8:30pm-9:00pm
Homework 9:00pm-10:00pm
Me time/Bible Study 10:00pn-11:00pm
Sleep 11:30pm-6:30pm

Your routine/list reflects who you really are. Perhaps you need to eliminate some things, and make more time for other things. The key is to create balance in everything and within this list, you will find that you are out of balance. Work is usually the culprit that sways the balance in our lives.

Next: Invest in a Calendar. You are most successful planning your life at least one month in advance. This calendar can be a written calendar or an electronic calendar. I personally use both calendars. My favorites are the Happy Planner series with the stickers, the Simplified Planner by Emily Ley, and I just purchased the Prayerful Planner which is nice but I did find that it is rather basic and the pages are thin. What I do like about it, is it has a place for a prayer journal, post it/notes, and a place for you to write a daily affirmation or praise.

Everything that you do needs to be scheduled. This scheduling assists you in developing routines, which are important. If you get into a routine of planning your life a month at a time, it will help you to safeguard yourself, and it will assist you in prioritizing those things that are important to YOU. It will also set you up to be able to say YES and or NO because after consulting your calendar and God, you will be in a better position to make decisions that will be rewarding and not overwhelming.

Routines help you to save time, money, and frustration. A few suggestions are:
-Prep your food or develop a weekly menu of what you will prepare/eat for meals.
-Decide what you and the kids are going to wear the night before and have it laid out.
-Pack any bags and load them in the car the night before you go to bed.
-Make sure to keep your gas tank filled. Never allow your tank to get below a quarter of a tank, so that on those rush filled mornings, you are not stressed or late because you have to gas up.
-Make a list of other traps in your home and develop a plan for those.

Invest the time in inspecting and evaluating your time!

Task for the week:
1. Journal your routine
2. Invest in a Calendar
3. Plan a month in advance; schedule EVERYTHING and remember to SCHEDULE YOUR PRIORITIES not prioritizing your schedule.
